Ever notice how the things we look forward to always happen so quickly and everything else drags on?! I LOVE having something to look forward to, it really makes the mundane times tolerable. Sometimes that something is just a Mellow Mushroom date on a Saturday afternoon (like this weekend) and sometimes its a big thing like our Buffalo trip in a couple of weeks – either way, I am excited.
When October hits so does the start of some of my favorite things – crisp days that smell like bonfires, Halloween, pumpkins, my birthday, family at Thanksgiving, Christmas – and it all flashes by in a blur. And at the end of that blur is the dull feeling of having to wait another 9 months for it all to happen again. I’m assuming I’m not the only one who feels this awfulness. Some people get seasonal issues from lack of sunlight, I get it from lack of pumpkins and evergreen.
This year I’m planning to take the time and really enjoy each moment. It might fly by but I’m sure as hell going to savor every minute of it. {Does anyone else get a little happy feeling from the smell of pine and campfires? Oh, just me?!} We do have some awesome plans already on the books and I made a list of all the things/activities I want to do over the next couple months.
Pick apples & bake an apple pie
Watch Hocus Pocus
Run the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving
Go to a bonfire
Tailgate a Buffalo Bills game
Go on a cold weather hike
See the Nutcracker ballet
Host a holiday party
Participate in Wreaths Across America
Just writing these things down gets me excited for each activity! Aah it’s going to be a great season 🙂
